Tommy Fury runs 10km in less than 45 minutes amid claims he was unfit for Jake Paul fight

Tommy Fury ran a 10 km race within less than 45 minutes as he looks to shut down reports that he was training poorly for his doomed fight with Jake Paul.

Fury was forced out of a $2million payday against Paul this week, with the official reason being that he couldn't get into America in time for their August 6 fight date. But his dad John claimed yesterday that he had ballooned to over 230lb and wasn't training for the fight properly before it was called off.

Tommy, for his part, has rubbished his dad's claims, calling them "bulls***", and warning fans not to listen to any news about his career from anyone but himself. To further prove his fitness, the 8-0 boxer signed up for a late notice entrance into the Run North West 10 km race, which he completed in under 45 minutes.

"Decided to enter a last minute 10k race today," Fury told fans on his Instagram story. "First time running competitively. Aimed for a sub 48, surprised myself with a sub 45 and almost took a woman down with me... Apologies!"

Fury shared the running details alongside a video of him finishing the race. He can be seen almost tumbling over a fellow runner, while his girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague cheers him to the finish along with the race announcer.

The Brit ran the race alongside his girlfriend's sister Zoe Hague, Danny Rae and his older brother Roman. He also proudly displayed his medal for competing the race, which would be difficult to complete at all, let alone is such quick time, if his dad's claims of not training and unfitness were true.

John told DAZN yesterday that his son has ballooned to a massive 231lb ahead of his doomed fight with Paul. That weight would be over 40lb heavier than his fight against Daniel Bocianski in April, and would have meant a two-stone weight cut to make the 200lb cruiserweight limit.

“Tommy wasn't exactly in training," John told DAZN, via FreeBets.com. "He'd only had about 10 days because he'd been on holiday and it was a surprising thing for him. I was a way out of it doing these tours and being busy elsewhere so I never got the chance to look at it properly. When I've paid attention, I noticed the whole thing wasn't right anyway.

"But I said ‘Okay, it is what it is, if you want to go over there and box him, do it. You're experienced enough now and it's a 50-50 platform. I know you could be fitter, you're overweight, but it's entirely up to yourself because I'm busy and I can't do it.’ So, he said 'Okay then, I'll do my own thing and I'll go fight him anyway because I can beat him.’"

Tommy refuted these claims today, telling fans on Instagram: "Recently on social media I've seen more s*** on me than ever. I want to get one thing straight, the reason this fight didn't take place is because I couldn't get in the country, not because I wasn't training or wasn't fit.

"I was ready and raring to go, I was at the airport on Monday morning with my whole team, ready to fly out and get the show on the road. I could. not get into the country and that's why the fight didn't happen, so all this bulls*** about me not being ready and not training, forget about it. If it's not come from me, don't believe it because it's not the truth."
