Tommy Fury guarantees he will show up for Jake Paul fight in defiant statement

Tommy Fury has guaranteed he will make it to Saudi Arabia for his fight with Jake Paul after years of build-up and two previous cancellations.

The Love Island star and unbeaten boxer is the step up Paul has been looking for in the ring, holding an 8-0 record, but their prior efforts at setting up a bout were both doomed. First, Fury picked up a rib injury in sparring two weeks out from December 2021 bout and then visa issues cost him a dream headliner at Madison Square Garden last August.

But with the fight now set for neutral territory, Fury has assured fans that he will be making the walk and finally settling his feud with controversial YouTube star Paul. The pair squared off in London last month, and on Thursday he will jet to the Middle East to finish off his camp.

"At the end of the day, if I cared about what people thought about me I probably wouldn't be in this position in the first place," Fury told Mirror Fighting . "I don't care what anybody thinks about me as long as God knows I'm doing good, my family; my missus and my baby.

"They're the opinions that I care about. At the end of the day, everyone's going to have an opinion, let them think what they're going to think. I will be there bright and early in Saudi Arabia, ready for this. There's no worries of me not showing up to this fight.

"The two previous fights that didn't go ahead were completely out of my hands, they had nothing to do with me whatsoever. What happened is what happened, but I am fit, I am conditioned, I'm here, I'm ready and I will be in Saudi don't worry about that."

Fury and Paul's feud is a bizarre one, beginning when Tommy's brother Tyson was duped by a fake TV statistic which claimed he had drawn over 1.9million viewers to his fight with journeyman Scott Williams. He and Paul began going back-and-forth on social media, before the American gave him his American debut against Anthony Taylor on the undercard of his bout with Tyron Woodley.

The pair clashed backstage at that event and two future fight dates were set, with any meeting between both men getting incredibly heated. But Fury insists that there isn't any real beef between the duo, saying that he views Paul as nothing more than an "idiot".

"You've got an idiot across the pond spouting nonsense and you've got a professional athlete ready to do his job in the ring," he said. "There's no bad blood here because there's nothing he's said or done that's got to me. He's just another guy talking some s*** that's all it is and it all ends on February 26.

"From my perspective he's another journeyman who's going to get knocked clean out. I'm going to go 9-0 and then I'll go 10-0, then 11-0, 12-0 and he's going to be nowhere, back to YouTube!"
