Tommy Fury will remain on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather vs Deji after being given a new opponent having missed weight for his fight with Paul Bamba.
Love Island star Fury, the brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson, was set to make his ring return tonight in Dubai against the relatively unknown Bamba, who has a record of 5-2. The fight was seemingly contracted at light-heavyweight and Bamba successfully weighed in at 174.6lb, but Fury missed the mark by almost 7lb as he stepped on the scale at 181.4lb and the fight was subsequently cancelled.
There was confusion over the contracted weight as Fury insisted he made the weight he was supposed to, but Bamba was adamant his contract said the fight was at 175lb. Bamba expected Fury to come in a pound or two overweight, but refused to fight when he realised it was considerably more than that. Fury will now fight Rolly Lambert, a Cameroonian boxer with a record of 15-1, in an un-scored exhibition bout at the event.

Fury said on Instagram of his supposed weight miss: "I just want to clear a few things up, one contract was given to Paul Bamba and one contract was given to myself. The weight in my contract I made yesterday, so as far as I'm concerned I've done my job, I made weight. Paul Bamba does not want to fight, he never did. I'm here in Dubai, I've got a new opponent and I'm ready to go, so I'll see you all tonight."
The Brit then released a follow-up statement that read: "Just to clarify, I made the weight specified in MY contract as I have for every fight I've ever fought. If Paul Bamba was told a different weight that he had to make for this fight then that has NOTHING to do with me."
There was also drama in the fight between MMA fighter Anthony Taylor and another Love Island star in Jack Fincham, as Taylor vowed to not fight after Fincham also missed weight by almost 7lb. Taylor had been under the impression that he and Fincham were competing on the pay-per-view card, but Global Titans had seemingly moved their fight on the prelims.
Taylor was filmed walking out of the fighter hotel in Dubai with his suitcase packed as he looked to get on the next flight back to America, but he quickly backtracked on his comments by tweeting: "The problem has been fixed! I’m still fighting!" Mirror Fighting understands that Taylor and Fincham will still fight on the pay-per-view card.
