Tommy Fury fight on Floyd Mayweather undercard OFF after weight miss

Tommy Fury 's fight with Paul Bamba on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather vs Deji has been cancelled after the Love Island's star weight miss.

Fury, the brother of heavyweight champion Tyson, was set to make his ring return tonight in Dubai against the relatively unknown Bamba, who has a record of 5-2. Fury hasn't fought since appearing on the undercard of Tyson's knockout win against Dillian Whyte in April as he looks to extend his unbeaten run to nine professional fights.

The fight was contracted at light-heavyweight and Bamba successfully weighed in at 174.6lb, but Fury missed the mark by almost 7lb as he stepped on the scale at 181.4lb. Fury's weight miss put the fight in jeopardy as Bamba told the Brit: "You don't make weight. It sucks. You are about seven pounds overweight and I want the world to know. Everyone is going to find out."

Bamba said he expected Fury to come in 2lb over the light-heavyweight limit but was furious when he released it was considerably more than that. The American promised to pull out of the fight if he was not guaranteed better terms and has now confirmed the fight is officially off.

"The situation at hand as we know it is Global Titans has cancelled my event due to the lack of being able to come to a mutual and amicable agreement. I wasn't given what I was wanted, they've been telling people they offered me a bunch of things. Ultimately, when I get home and there are a lot less laws to worry about I will be a lot more vocal about this," he told Fred Talks Fighting.

"At the end of the day, there were two separate contracts for the weight which is not fair. I don't know whose fault that is and I'm not placing blame on anybody, but it's not right. I made weight, I did what I needed to do and I was willing to make a negotiation if things were done the right way. I gave them a timeframe but they didn't meet my timeframe."

Bamba added that he bumped into Fury's dad John as the fight was in jeopardy and the pair were trying to negotiate a new deal, but a representative from Global Titans informed them it was too late and the bout was cancelled. Bamba is still hopeful of rescheduling the fight with Fury down the line.

"Negotiations are subject to everyone agreeing and we all couldn't agree. I appreciate John Fury for being super respectful, if Tommy still wants to fight I will come to the UK no problem. I just need to know the weight ahead of time, Tommy can shoot for his 9-0 and I can shoot for my 6-0."
