Tommy Fury fails to make weight on Floyd Mayweather vs Deji undercard

Tommy Fury has failed to make weight ahead of his fight with Paul Bamba on Floyd Mayweather's undercard.

Fury returns to the ring on Sunday night in Dubai in a bid to maintain his unbeaten professional career to date. The 23-year-old last fought in April on brother Tyson's undercard and will come under the spotlight again when he faces off against Bamba on the undercard of Mayweather's latest exhibition fight with YouTuber Deji.

The pair weighed in on Saturday with Fury coming in at a hefty 181.4lbs - over 7lbs more than his opponent, who was quick to criticise the Love Island star as verbals were exchanged. Bamba, who weighed in at 174.6lbs, told Fury: "You don't make weight. It sucks. You are about 7lbs overweight and I want the world to know. Everyone is going to find out."

The bout is a light-heavyweight contest and boxers are usually required to hit around the 175lb mark. Fury's contract stated he had to be at 178.5lbs and boxing bodies have reportedly agreed to let him fight, if he can drop almost 3lbs.

But Bamber is still furious because he made weight and says by law, they should be the same weight. He now insists he wants 20 percent of Fury’s purse if the fight does go ahead, due to the 'unfair' weight variation.

Despite failing to make weight, Fury promised he will deliver an impressive performance in Dubai, insisting: "I am ready to go and will put a huge show on. I have trained eight weeks for this and a big dirty knockout is coming."

Fury's rival Jake Paul is expected at ringside after a proposed bout between the pair fell through but the Brit insists his focus remains on Bamba.

I'm not bothered if [Jake's] at ringside, anyone's at ringside. KSI, Jake Paul, whoever's there, I'm not interested cause my full focus is on Paul Bamba and when I beat Paul Bamba and I come through him, then I'll revert my attention to them at ringside. But until then, it's Paul Bamba, he's got my full attention on Sunday night."

"But, if they are there, better not get into the ring after the fight 'cause I'll be nice and warmed up, put it that way."

Mayweather takes on Deji in the main event on Sunday night in an exhibition bout, while Jack Fincham - another Love Islander - will put his skills to the test against Anthony Taylor.
