Despite pressure final day pressure from Rory McIlroy, world number one Scottie Scheffler was able to keep his cool and claim a three shot victory. The win was Scheffler's first major and makes him just the sixth golfer to win the Masters after entering the competition as World Number One, he finished on -10 compared to McIlroy who shot a superb 64 to end on -7.
Southport's Tommy Fleetwood has praised the 25-year-old after his win, describing the American as a 'fantastic world number one for the sport'. He said in a Twitter post: "Congrats to Scottie and Ted amazing performance! Huge respect for what you are achieving it’s truly a magical time for you all. You’re a fantastic world number 1 for our sport!".
Scheffler has won four events in his last six starts to take his place as World number one, and with three majors left to play it could be a historic year for the American. Meanwhile, Fleetwood finished 14th on +2 and hailed the tournament as a step in the right direction for the world number 46.

He explained his upturn in form after Saturday's third round in cold conditions, saying: “I played amazing today. I mean, not saying I'm the best golfer in the word, but I played really, really well and I honestly seemed to be holing out all day. I think most of all I'm just really pleased that I'm putting some good rounds of golf together and hopefully I can keep it going.”
Fleetwood will line up alongside Scheffler at the Open Championship at St Andrew's in July after June's US Open at the Country Club and will be hoping to replicate the American's success after in a quest for a first major title.
