Tommy DeVito leaned into his New Jersey roots after a touchdown pass to Saquon Barkley

Tommy DeVito made hay earlier this week when a get-to-know-me spotlight about the New York Giants’ third-string quarterback made it clear he’s a living North Jersey stereotype. On Sunday against the Washington Commanders, the man filling in for Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor fully leaned into his Italian roots.

After DeVito launched a beautiful touchdown pass to Saquon Barkley down the right sideline, he actually pinched his fingers in the vein of the famous Italian hand gesture. I can’t lie. Just watching DeVito do this put a smile on my face.

We love to see gestures (slash kind of ironic emojis) be blasted on display like this:

Ah, man, that’s just perfect. I feel like I’m watching an episode of The Sopranos, and one of the main characters is wearing a Giants helmet. This, of course, wasn’t DeVito’s only highlight. The young man passed for nearly 200 yards and two scores in what was effectively a perfect first half for the signal-caller.

Nonetheless, kudos to DeVito for the amusing self-awareness.

This was how Twitter reacted to DeVito's finger-pinching celebration
