Tom Rogic named PFA Men's Football of the Year for first time after Celtic and Australia exploits

Tom Rogic has been named the PFA Men's Football of the Year in Australia.

The midfielder, who will be leaving Celtic in the summer, has landed the top award for the very fist time.

He played a key part for Ange Postecoglou's side as they recaptured the Premiership title from Rangers and also lifted the Premier Sports Cup.

Celtic will also be playing in the Champions League next season following their league triumph with Rogic contributing six goals and ten assists from 50 appearances in all competitions.

The 29-year-old has also played a starring role for the Socceroos with their World Cup dream still alive.

The PFA award is player-voted, with Rogic coming out on top from all his peers.

On winning the prestigious award, he said: “It’s a huge honour to be named the PFA Men’s Footballer of the Year.

"To win this award voted by all my peers is very special.

"It’s been a great year and I hope to be able to top it off with qualification for the World Cup with the Socceroos.”

Celtic also offered their congratulations on Twitter, they posted: "Congratulations to @Tom_Rogic for winning the @thepfa Men's Footballer of the Year! #CelticFC."

Australia face United Arab Emirates next month with the winner facing Peru in the final.

Whoever comes out on top from the play-off route will secure a spot at Qatar 2022 later this year.
