Tom Rogic 'closing in' on post Celtic transfer with 'talks' over a move to England

Celtic favourite Tom Rogic is set to sign for new club, according to a report.

The former Hoops midfielder has been without a team since departing the Scottish champions in the summer following a trophy-laden nine-year stint at the club. There has been lots of talk surrounding the Australia international and his next move, but he is said to be closing in on a move to the English Championship with West Brom.

The Telegraph say he is in talks with the Baggies and is 'expected' to put pen to paper with Steve Bruce's side. It's been a tough start to the campaign and they currently sit in 16th position in England' second tier with just one win from eight games. Rogic's arrival at the club could be the catalyst they need to propel up the table while he will also be keen to get first team minutes under his belt with the World Cup just a couple of months away and Australia in the finals.

On his departure from Celtic, he said: “I can only say good things about the club and my experiences here were incredible and I feel very fortunate to have been at the club for such a successful period as well.

“The period over the nine-and-a-half years, there has been a lot of success.

“You fast-forward to where we are now and the success we’ve had this season, needing to win the title back, the manner in which we’ve done it, the football that we’ve played, it’s as rewarding a season as I can remember.

“I did feel it was important for me to go out on a high and leave as a champion after all the success here. It’s another great season to have here.

“It’s been a special ride and I’ve been fortunate to experience so many great memories at Celtic Park and with the travelling fans.

“It’s something I’ll reflect upon with great pride and I’m sure I’ll tell my kids and grandkids about it.”
