Tom Parker's wife Kelsey charity event plans to mark singer's first birthday after death

Kelsey Parker has revealed she is planning to mark Tom Parker's first birthday following his tragic death earlier this year in a special way.

The Wanted singer's widow has told her Instagram followers how she plans to host a "family fun day" to commemorate Tom's life next month, when the late star would have been turning 34.

Speaking on Instagram Live on Tuesday night, Kelsey explained her plans before going on to share details of the upcoming event on her main page.

"Tom Parker Charity Event - Raising money for Cancer via the 'Ahead of the Game Foundation'," the mum-of-two captioned a promotional flyer for the charity fundraiser to her 355,000 followers.

"*A fun day for all the family! * Sunday 7th August from 12pm until 5pm at Memorial Hall & Gardens in Petts Wood."

She continued: "This event is to celebrate Tom's legacy and his memory. We want to raise much needed funds to help others who are fighting this awful disease.

"We aim to make a positive impact on people's lives when it is needed most.

"Tom lived in Petts Wood and to us it was home, Tom loved being part of the Petts wood community.

"I know that Tom would have loved to see the local community that he was a part of come out to support.

"August 4th would have been Tom's 34th birthday so join us in making this a day to be remembered in memory of him."

Kelsey went on to list all the planned activities for the day, including a 5k walk around the Petts Wood area in memory of her late husband, musical performances and a raffle with amazing prizes.

Tom, 33, sadly passed away in March, after a battle with terminal brain cancer glioblastoma.

His beloved wife Kelsey, with whom he shares two children with, confirmed the tragic news in a heartbreaking statement.

"Tom was the centre of our world and we can’t imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence," the mum-of-two wrote within her touching tribute.

In recent months, Kelsey revealed how she’d begged doctors not to tell Tom how long he had to live over fears he would count down the days.

She explained how she didn't want to know how long doctors predicted he would survive, saying: "We didn't ask for one [a prognosis].

“I said that for Tom's state of mind, and who he is as a person, that would not be good for him. He would literally sit here and count down the days and not live his life."

As she launched the charity event in honour of her late husband on Tuesday, Tom's fans rushed to praise the mum-of-two.

"What a wonderful idea! Tom would love that. It would be great if it could be an annual thing because I'd love to come next year," one Instagram user told the star, with another adding: "Tom would be so proud of you!! Let’s raise some money for him."

The Wanted singer has been remembered with a new plaque in a very special place (@being_kelsey/Instagram)

The charity event plans come just days after Kelsey unveiled new plaque in memory of her husband Tom.

Taking to Instagram on Friday, Kelsey shared with her followers that she has mounted a plaque to a family bench, which was originally put in woods as a tribute to her late Uncle Neil who also died of cancer aged just 35, 16 years ago.

Kelsey, who is mum to Tom's two children Aurelia, three, and Bodhi, 20 months, went with her mum, grandparents and other family members to put the sweet message on the bench.

The new plaque says: "Thomas Anthony Parker - Loving Husband, Son & Father Forever In Our Hearts 04.08.88 - 30.03.22".
