Tom Parker's widow Kelsey sobs ahead of walking red carpet 'first time on my own' at NTAs

Tom Parker's widow Kelsey revealed she has been an 'emotional wreck' all morning ahead of the National Television Awards.

A documentary from The Wanted star, who died from brain cancer earlier this year, has been nominated for an NTA award.

Kelsey is feeling nervous as it marks the first time she will walk the red carpet without him by her side.

She took to her Instagram Stories this morning to share her fears with her 357,000 fans.

The mum-of-two told the camera: "I don’t know what is wrong with me this morning but I’m literally so emotional.

“I just, I don’t know why I did it this morning but I sat there and I looked through all of Tom’s reels.

“I don’t know why I just did that to myself and literally I am an emotional wreck this morning.

She told followers with a shaky voice that she can't stop crying but she has been 'trying not to cry. now'.

"I just think that obviously with the NTAs today and, even with it being postponed, I think this has been a long time coming and I just feel really overwhelmed by everything," Kelsey added.

"And I feel overwhelmed that I have to walk the red carpet on my own. This is the first time I’m doing this without him,” she explained, referring to her late husband Tom.

"I just think it’s the build-up to everything and the day has come and whether we win or we don’t win, I am so proud of how far we’ve come."

The 27th National Television Awards will be taking place tonight in an evening designed to celebrate the best in British television.

The 2022 NTAs were originally due to take place on September 15 but were postponed as a mark of respect following the death of the Queen.

Earlier this month, Kelsey marked six months since the singer's death by detailing on Instagram one of the hardest challenges she has had to face without him.

He passed away in March at the age of 33 after being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, leaving behind Kelsey and their two children Aurelia, three, and Bodhi, two.

Six months on, she took Instagram to share her thoughts on 'another day, another milestone' as she prepared to attend the wedding of their close friends, Kelsey and Dean.

"6 months to the day since we lost Tom but you're still here @tomparkerofficial in everything we do," she wrote.

"We have arrived at the hotel to get ready for Kelsey and Dean's wedding tomorrow and I'm so excited to watch my best friend get married to the best guy we could have chosen for her. The only man Tom ever approved of for our Kels.

"Tom would be so proud of you both and I know he's gutted to be missing out on this special day. Not having him by my side tomorrow will be one of the hardest challenges I've faced yet, but I will do it."
