Tom Parker's Pointless Celebrities episode to air early on BBC in tribute to late singer

The BBC has revealed it's brought forward an episode of quiz show Pointless featuring Tom Parker in tribute to the singer who tragically lost his battle with brain cancer aged 33 on Wednesday.

Tom, who rose to fame as one fifth of The Wanted, had filmed the celebrity edition alongside his bandmate Max George, 33, late last year.

The special episode - in which the pair appear in aid of the Brain Tumour Charity and Brain Research UK - will now be broadcast on BBC One on Saturday in memory of the much-loved musician.

The BBC confirmed the news in a statement, in which the broadcaster stated the decision to air the episode had been made with the support of Tom's family.

The statement read: "In a tribute to Tom Parker who sadly passed away this week, his episode of Pointless Celebrities, which was recorded late last year, was brought forward with the full support and blessing of Tom's family."

Tom sadly passed away on Wednesday (March 30) surrounded by family and friends, with the tragic news shared on social media by his wife Kelsey Parker, 32.

The couple had been married since 2018 and later welcomed daughter Aurelia, now two, and son Bodhi, now one, into the world as they expanded their family.

Announcing the news of her husband's death, Kelsey said: "It is with the heaviest of hearts that we confirm Tom passed away peacefully earlier today with all of his family by his side."

Kelsey said in her tribute the family were heartbroken by the loss of Tom - who was diagnosed with a grade four glioblastoma in 2020.

She had written: "Our hearts are broken, Tom was the centre of our world and we can't imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence."

The mother-of-two expressed gratitude for the "outpouring of love and support" the family had received, with her adding that she will be "forever proud" of her late husband.

She added: "Tom was the centre of our world and we can’t imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence.

"Thank you to everyone who has supported in his care throughout, he fought until the very end. I’m forever proud of you."

Pointless Celebrities - featuring Tom Parker - will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Saturday at 7.50pm.
