Tom Parker's death has sparked massive interest in an already powerful routine from Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean during Sunday night's Dancing on Ice final..
Late on Wednesday afternoon, it was confirmed that The Wanted star Tom had died at the age of just 33, having battled terminal brain cancer for the last two years. Tom was told he had a tumour in the autumn of 2020 and, having been dealt the devastating blow whilst alone in hospital due to Covid restrictions, he vowed to fight it all the way.
He kept his promise to join Max George, Nathan Sykes, Jay McGuinness and Siva Kaneswaran on stage on their recent reunion tour, with Tom's final post being a photo of the band on stage, just weeks before he passed away.

And, just days before his death, Torvill and Dean skated to The Wanted's 2011 Comic Relief single. It's a song that already meant a lot to fans of the boyband but, now has taken on a whole new meaning after Tom's passing and his courage in his final months, especially the lyrics: 'The memory of being here with you. Is one I'm gonna take my life through. Cause some days stay gold forever."
By Thursday morning, Gold Forever has climbed to number 1 on iTunes and, those who hadn't already seen Torvill and Dean's Dancing on Ice performance to it were rushing to watch the routine online. Reacting to it, one tweeted: "So sad, and now so poignant that last weekend on the Dancing on Ice final, Torvill and Dean performed a routine to Gold Forever."
A second wrote: "So special and so sad . @torvillanddean and the pros skated to The Wanted “Gold Forever” at the weekend on
@dancingonice and today their member Tom Parker passed away. Makes this skate even more special now." Watching at the time, a Wanted fan and Dancing on Ice viewer posted: "Nah I wasn’t expecting that on Dancing on Ice, why does Gold Forever hit differently with so many emotions now."
