Tom Hardy will read another CBeeebies bedtime story to mark NHS anniversary celebration

Tom Hardy is set to make a special appearance on CBeebies Bedtime Stories, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the NHS. On Wednesday, July 5, viewers can enjoy an episode featuring the Hollywood actor reading Zog And The Flying Doctors by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

CBeebies captured six new stories with Hardy, filming him in his garden alongside his loyal French bulldog, Blue. Zog And The Flying Doctors follows the adventures of Princess Pearl, Sir Gadabout, and the trusty "air ambulance" dragon, Zog, as they soar through the skies, aiding a sunburnt mermaid, a distressed unicorn, and a sneezing lion.

Author and former children's laureate Julia Donaldson penned the story as a sequel to her initial Zog book, which chronicles the misadventures of a clumsy dragon learning to breathe fire. Donaldson is famous for her popular children's books, including The Gruffalo, Room On The Broom, and Tabby McTat.

Tom Hardy, renowned for his role in Mad Max: Fury Road, first graced CBeebies Storytime on New Year's Eve in 2016. According to the BBC, his appearances garnered an impressive 2.32 million streams on iPlayer by the end of May. In 2021, Hardy delighted audiences with another reading of Donaldson's book titled "The Christmas Pine," which aired on Christmas Day.

CBeebies Bedtime Stories has been graced by numerous celebrities, including Melissa McCarthy, Chris Hemsworth, Steve Carell, Harry Styles, Ellie Goulding, Kate Winslet, and the legendary Dolly Parton - many of them filmed at the BBC's MediaCity UK studios at Salford Quay.

You can catch CBeebies Bedtime Stories on weekdays at 6.50 pm on CBeebies and also stream it on BBC iPlayer.
