Father-son acting duo Chet and Tom Hanks have teamed up for a Forrest Gump reprisal that has to be seen to be believed.
At this point we’re all too familiar with the Hanks family dynamic, so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to see that Chet managed to rope his old man into a cameo in his latest music video.
The song, You Better Run, is the latest single from Chet’s country music band Something Out West — a duo with his friend Drew Arthur.
In the music video, the younger Hanks recreates iconic scenes from the 1994 Oscar-winning film, playing the titular character that made his dad so famous.
But to make it even more of a throwback, Tom makes a cameo beside his son on the famous park bench.
“You better run/Like the devil’s on your tail/Like you broke out of jail/Like a big storm’s coming/Run, like a wild mustang/Like a bullet train,” the duo sing in the chorus.
“Let me tell you something/You’re running out of time/On a ticking clock/She’ll be comin’ for you/There’s no time to walk/Run, run, run.”
You Better Run is the second single from Something Out West since they signed with major record label Big Machine Records in February. The duo were roommates in California when they began their respective sobriety journeys, with Chet recently celebrating two years of sobriety.
Chet, whose acting credits include the Bratz movie, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and Empire, is booked and busy between his musical endeavours and his recurring role in the new Netflix series Running Point. I must say, he has come a long way since “White Boy Summer“.
