Tom Grennan turns down Belfast football club's offer with comical reply

Tom Grennan has comically turned down the chance to put in some extra training with a Belfast football club ahead of this year's Soccer Aid.

The chart topping music star - whose hits include Remind Me and Let’s Go Home Together - is among the celebrities who will take to the pitch at London Stadium for the tournament on June 12.

He will don his boots alongside the likes of Usain Bolt, Liam Payne, Martin Compston and Lee Mack for the charity event.

Grennan recently admitted he was out of shape ahead of the high-profile footy tournament, blaming his tour of the USA for his unexpected weight gain.

He has been putting in some intensive training to improve his fitness, but he appears to draw the line at hill sprints.

Amateur League club Ford FC jokingly invited Grennan along for some extra sessions.

They said on Twitter: "TG when you are at CHSQ Belfast we will be back in pre-season let us know if you fancy a few hill sprints."

Grennan's reply was short and sweet, the UK singer saying: "F***** no chance."

As for his Soccer Aid training, Grennan told The Sun: “Soccer Aid training is going well.

“Don’t get me wrong, I’ve put a bit of a tour belly on, but I’m out at the moment doing laps of the field and I played football last night, so I’m getting ready for it.

“I was eating rubbish in America. It’s just fries and Impossible Burgers.

“I’ll definitely be in a headspace where I’m there to play well. It’s on TV, for God’s sake. I’m not looking rubbish, no way.”
