Tom Grennan apologises for Ellie Goulding 't*tgate' at The Brits after sparking complaints

Tom Grennan has apologised for comments he made during Saturday night’s The Brit Awards as he presented an award with fellow singer Ellie Goulding. The pair teamed up to announce the award for best new artist which went to rock band Wet Leg.

However, as they took to the stage Tom, 27, commented on 36-year-old Ellie’s black breastplate top. "I love what you’re doing – they’re your real boobs?" Tom quipped.

"These are not no," Ellie replied about the top's added breast detail. "I wish." "Ah sorry," Tom replied. And Ellie continued: "Mine are a lot further apart." "Oh okay," he told her.

Both have now issued statements on their social media, with Burn singer Ellie writing on Sunday that Lionheart hitmaker Tom was an "ally" and that they were "having a bit of fun." And Tom has apologised to anyone offended by his words.

"A word on Brit/ t*t gate … I was wearing a beautiful breastplate, thank you all for appreciating it," she typed. "My friend Tom Grennan is 100% an ally and we were having a bit of fun. No offence taken, no harm intended- and no other interpretations necessary."

Reposting her comments, Tom added: "Love ya @elliegoulding What started as a joke between Ellie and I before we went on stage came out all wrong.
