Tom Daley welcomes surprise baby with Dustin Lance Black and shares adorable name

Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black have welcomed their second child together.

The Olympic diver has welcomed the tot, sweetly named Phoenix Rose, with his husband Dustin. The couple shared the news with fans on Wednesday, as the happy announcement was made in The Times.

The low-key announcement read: "Black-Daley on 28th March to Thomas Robert Daley and Dustin Lance Black, a son, Phoenix Rose."

The happy couple, who first met in 2013 and tied the knot in 2017, welcomed their first child - Robert Ray - together via surrogacy in 2018.

This exciting news comes after the couple recently celebrated a huge relationship milestone, marking their 10 year anniversary. Sharing a series of snaps over the course of their decade-long romance, American scriptwriter Lance gushed over his husband: "10 YEARS AGO TODAY… I met my best friend and the great love of my life at a random dinner in Los Angeles that I had no business being at (I had a script due the next day!).

"I worried I was in real (good) trouble from the first moment we spoke. I was right. Thank you Tom for all of your love, patience, and encouragement, for building our family together, and for all of the many adventures past and yet to come."

Tom and his American screenwriter husband previously explained why they decided to go through the surrogacy process in America instead of the UK.

At the time, Tom previously revealed that in the UK, both surrogates and parents are not afforded the same legal rights - something which turned him off trying to go ahead with the process in his own country.

"We looked into it in the UK and in the US. In the UK it's a lot more complicated because surrogates aren't as well protected legally, intended parents aren't protected legally, it's just not safe, there's a lot of hurdles to have to jump over," Tom said after the pair welcomed their first child.

"In the US, everything is regulated in a way that keeps everyone safe and in the US the surrogacy process is a lot more streamlined."
