Tom Daley tipped for I'm A Celebrity after announcing retirement from diving following Olympics

Tom Daley’s odds to take part in the next series of I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here have shot up after he confirmed his retirement from diving after competing at the 2024 Olympics.

The 30-year-old athlete made his Olympics debut aged just 14 at the Beijing Games in 2008 and 16 years later has he won a silver medal at the Paris Games to add to his collection of three bronzes and one gold.

After confirming on Monday that he will be hanging up his speedos, entering the Australian jungle could be a next step.

The latest odds from Ladbrokes certainly agree, placing him at just 3/1 to appear on the next series when it returns in November hosted by Ant and Dec.

A number of other former Olympians have given it a go over the years, including Sam Quek and Amir Khan.

Daley is also no stranger himself to reality TV after serving as a mentor on ITV show Splash from 2013-2014 where he attempted to teach celebrities how to dive.

Addressing his decision to make Paris his last Olympics, Daley told British Vogue: “It feels very, very surreal. I felt so incredibly nervous going into this, knowing it was my last Olympics.

“There was a lot of pressure and expectation. I was eager for it to be done… but when I walked out, and saw my husband [Dustin Lance Black] and kids [Robbie and Phoenix] and my friends and family in the audience, I was like, you know what? This is exactly why I did this,” he continued.

“I’m here, and no matter what happens in the competition itself, I’m going to be happy.

“It was emotional at the end, up there on the platform, knowing it was going to be my last competitive dive.

“But I have to make the decision at some point, and it feels like the right time. It’s the right time to call it a day.”
