Tom Cruise pledges to back cinema visits over streaming - and there's a good reason

Actor Tom Cruise could almost be heard yelling, “Show me the ticket receipts!” as he made an impassioned speech
in support of cinemas.

The Jerry Maguire star announced he will continue to fight to keep the big screen tradition alive and kicking.

The cinema experience is in danger of becoming a Risky Business due to competition from streaming services such as Netflix.

Cruise, 60, was seen on Monday at Rome’s Spanish Steps ahead of the world premiere of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.

On stage, he said: “It’s my passion to entertain you and I will always fight for big theatres and that kind of experience for everyone.”

The seventh outing of the franchise was partly filmed in the Italian capital and will be out on July 14.

Tom attended the premiere with co-stars Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson and Hayley Atwell.
