Tom Cruise is "extremely interested in pursuing" Shakira after the pair were spotted together in Miami over the weekend at the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
A source has said there is "chemistry" between Shakira and Tom, following her painful split from football star Gerard Pique.
The 46-year-old singer and Barcelona defender, 36, announced their shock breakup in June last year after 12 years together. Gerard has since moved on with Clara Chia Marti, 24.
Tom and Shakira were seen chatting in a private hospitality suite at the Miami International Autodrome and the Top Gun star even sent her flowers, according to reports.
Speaking about Tom's feelings for Shakira, a source said: "He is extremely interested in pursuing her. There is chemistry."
"Shakira needs a soft pillow to fall on, and that could be Tom," the source told Page Six, before adding that he is "a nice-looking guy, and he is talented."
"And she isn’t taller than him," they joked.
The Hollywood icon is five foot seven, while Grammy award winner Shakira is five foot two.
Tom is the father of three children - Isabella, 30, and Connor, 28, with ex-wife Nicole Kidman and Suri, 17, with ex-wife Katie Holmes.
Shakira and Gerard were together for more than a decade and share two children - Sasha, eight, and Milan, 10.
The Hips Don't Lie hitmaker recently opened up about the breakup and says she has come out of it feeling "strengthened".
The mum-of-two said she had previously bought into the "story" that a woman needs a man but claimed: "I now feel complete because I depend on myself."
In an apparent swipe at Gerard's new lover Clara Chia, Shakira told Mexican journalist Enrique Acevedo: "There is a place in hell reserved for women who don’t support other women."
She added: "I also had that dream of a family where the children had a mum and dad under the same roof.
"You don't achieve all your dreams in life but life has a way of compensating you and I think life has certainly done it with me with the marvellous two children I have."
Shakira added she had always been "emotionally quite dependant on men" but now she is "sufficient on her own".
