With the 95th Academy Awards just hours away, one of the night’s biggest stars will reportedly be elsewhere.
Deadline has reported that Top Gun: Maverick star Tom Cruise will not be attending this year’s Oscar ceremony despite being nominated as a producer in the Best Picture category.
Cruise is reportedly in the United Kingdom filming 2024’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, and he has reportedly opted to stick with his production schedule instead of amending it to attend Hollywood’s biggest night.
If Top Gun: Maverick won Best Picture, longtime producer Jerry Bruckheimer would likely be one of the film’s representatives to accept the trophy.
Filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie and Skydance Media CEO David Ellison are also nominated, though McQuarrie is likely with Cruise directing next year’s Mission: Impossible film.

Although, Lady Gaga will be attending the ceremony to perform the song “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick.
There will be plenty of celebrities in attendance at this year’s Academy Awards, even if Cruise is nowhere to be found.
