Tom Cannon has signed a new three-year deal with Everton and set out his aims to be more involved with the first team in the future.
The striker has been exciting many in recent weeks and months with his progress on the pitch for the Blues' under-21s. After finishing as the team's top scorers in 2021-22, he has made a strong start to this season, under new manager Paul Tait, scoring four goals in the first three games.
Cannon's new terms will keep him at Goodison Park until June 2025, having been with the academy since the age of 10. And, in the future, he hopes that will lead to first-team opportunities.

He told evertonfc.com: “It means a lot to sign this new deal I want to really kick on now and I’m excited about what the future holds. Everton is a very good place to develop. I’ve got the right people around me and they help me every day. The coaching has been great here and I’m very grateful for all the time they’ve given me.
"I feel, over the past year, I feel I’ve developed more physically and I’m looking forward to progressing even more. Hopefully I can keep scoring and playing well and get more involved with the first team. There’s nothing more I want to do than to play for Everton."
Cannon flourished under the coaching of Tait at under-18 level and is delighted to be working with him again in the current season. The pair have already spoken about his development this year.
"Taity’s a very good coach and I get on very well with him," the forward added. "I feel like I can speak to him about anything
"I’ve already had multiple chats with him so far this season and they’ve all been positive. He’s very open and honest, which I feel you need. It’s great to be back working with him."
Everton director of football Kevin Thelwell praised Cannon’s application and ability after the new contract was announced - and is confident he can take his game to new heights.
"I am so pleased Tom has committed his future to Everton," Thelwell said. "He is a very talented young striker. He has an excellent work ethic and has proven his ability to score goals at every level he has played at.
"We have a specific development plan in place for Tom and I am looking forward to seeing him continue to progress."
