Tom Briscoe provides injury update as he backs potential Leeds Rhinos return for Zak Hardaker

Tom Briscoe has provided positive news on the ankle injury that saw him limp from the field in Leeds Rhinos' win over Toulouse Olympique. The winger was helped from the field with an ankle injury he sustained while trying to catch a kick-off and left Headingley in a protective boot following the victory.

However, Briscoe, who impressed as he returned to the wing, revealed that initial signs were positive despite some expected damage to his ankle ligaments.

"I'll get some scans on Monday and see how we go from there," he said. "I twisted my ankle in the tackle before and then it just gave way. I came off but hopefully it's just a precaution. I felt a little bit of something which kind of scared me but we'll see on Monday. There's some positive signs from the treatment the doctors gave me so hopefully it's nothing too serious."

Meanwhile, reports of a potential return for Zak Hardaker continue to rumble on to help the Rhinos through their injury struggles. Briscoe spent just over two years at Headingley with Hardaker and approved a potential return.

"I had a few years with Zak," he said. "There are rumours there and he's a great player still. Obviously we're struggling for numbers still and he'd be a welcome addition with us if he was to join the squad."
