New England Patriots coach Jerod Mayo was praised by former Patriots quarterback and teammate Tom Brady on Tuesday’s episode of “The Pat McAfee Show”.
Brady and Mayo were teammates from 2008-2015. The pair won a Super Bowl together during that time, and Mayo left a strong impression on Brady in the process.
While some might have apprehension in regards to the hiring of Mayo as head coach, Brady is confident that the former Tennessee star will do a solid job leading the team.
“Jerod is a great leader, a great captain, a great friend; I think he had a tremendous amount of success in football and then had success in other parts of his life when he retired and then him coming back into coaching, I think is great for the NFL and certainly great for the Patriots,” said Brady, as transcribed by A to Z Sports’ Sophie Weller. “He’s got a great understanding of how things need to be done. I think Jerod does an incredible job relating to everybody in the locker room, all the coaches and I think he’ll do a great job.”

Brady is not the only former Patriots quarterback to give Mayo praise.
Cam Newton offered his enthusiastic support recently as well. It remains to be seen how Mayo will do on the football field, but it certainly is telling that past NFL legends are in his corner.
