Tom Brady in blunt response to injury fears after heavy hit in Kansas City Chiefs defeat

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has insisted that the injury he picked up in his team's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night will not keep him out for any length of time.

Brady performed strongly in the prime time showdown against Patrick Mahomes' Chiefs, with the 45-year-old quarterback throwing for 385 yards and three touchdowns, however the Chiefs would go on to take the win with an explosive offensive showing, scoring 38 points in the first three quarters and adding a field-goal in the fourth to win 41-31.

Brady would only turn the ball over once, with Buccaneers defensive back L'Jarius Sneed sacking him before ripping at his arm to strip the ball for a fumble as Brady immediately clutched his throwing arm.

Backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert could be seen warming up on the sidelines after the play, with Brady looking like he may have to come out after being in noticeable pain. He also appeared to rush back to the sideline after being sacked, with fears he had suffered considerable damage.

However, he would remain in the game, and was not hampered by the injury, as he issued a two-word response on the status of his arm. He told reporters: "I'll be alright. It's football."

Brady has yet to miss a game since joining the Buccaneers from the Patriots in 2020, starting 37 in a row whilst bringing Tampa a Super Bowl in his first season.

Sunday's game was his best performance of the season so far, with the Buccaneers offence welcoming back Mike Evans from suspension. Chris Godwin, Julio Jones and Russell Gage have all missed game time due to injuries. All four were back available for last night's outing, with Evans registering 103 yards and two touchdowns, with Godwin adding 59 yards.

For the Chiefs, star tight end Travis Kelce performed well, bringing in nine catches for 92 yards and a touchdown, as running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire put in an identical performance with running yards.

The Buccaneers go into week five with a 2-2 record, as they prepare to face division rivals Atlanta Falcons on Sunday before facing the Pittsburgh Steelers the following week.
