It’s been a year since Tom Brady retired from football, but it doesn’t look as if he’s lost a step. In fact, the 46-year-old might very well be in the best shape of his life.
In a new social media post promoting NoBull, a footwear, apparel and accessory brand, Brady sought redemption from his 40-yard dash time at the 2000 NFL scouting combine. Indeed, Brady has been teased over the course of his career because of how slowly he ran at the combine.
The eventual sixth-round draft pick ran a 5.28 for scouts at age 22, and he hasn’t been able to shake the stigma—until now.

In a viral video posted Thursday morning, Brady turns the jets on and runs the 40-yard dash yet again, and both timers purport to have him beating his 24-year-old mark. In the video, one person timed Brady at 5.18, while another recorded a 5.12.
Of course, it’s not an officially sanctioned event. But if the video is authentic and Brady is actually faster now than he was at age 22, than that’s undeniably amazing.
“Next year, it’s gonna be faster,” Brady said.
