Tom Blyth And Russell Tovey To Lead 'Plainclothes' Film

Tom Blyth and Russell Tovey lead in 'Plainclothes' by Carmen Emmi.

Tom Blyth and Russell Tovey have been announced as the lead actors in the upcoming independent film 'Plainclothes,' written and directed by Carmen Emmi. The film is set to be shot in Syracuse, N.Y. and is being produced by Arthur Landon, Colby Cote, and Eric Podwall on behalf of Page 1 Entertainment and Lorton Entertainment.

'Plainclothes' is a period piece set in the '90s, inspired by true events. The story follows a working-class undercover officer who is assigned to entrap and apprehend gay men but finds himself developing feelings for one of his targets.

The producers, Cote and Landon, expressed their admiration for Emmi's directorial debut, describing it as a heartfelt narrative that delves into themes of internal conflict, family dynamics, and the complexities of sexual identity amidst societal and personal pressures. They are enthusiastic about bringing Emmi's screenplay to life with the talented cast assembled for the project.

Tom Blyth, known for his recent roles in 'The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes' and the MGM+ series 'Billy the Kid,' will be portraying a key character in the film. Additionally, he is set to star in Michael Winterbottom's adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's 'A Farewell to Arms.'

Russell Tovey, an award-winning actor recognized for his work in projects like 'Feud' and 'American Horror Story: NYC,' will also be part of the cast. Tovey's performance in the BBC/HBO drama series 'Years and Years' earned him a nomination for a 2020 Critic's Choice Award.

Carmen Emmi, the writer of 'Plainclothes,' has garnered acclaim for his screenplay, including recognition from industry competitions such as the AMPAS Academy Nicholl Fellowship.

Tom Blyth is represented by Gersh, MJ Management, United Agents in the U.K., and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern, while Russell Tovey is represented by Claire Maroussas at Independent Talent Group and Pinnacle PR for press.
