Toledo Fans Stormed Bowling Green’s Field After a Spectacular Comeback Win

There’s nothing quite like a little Tuesday night “MAC-tion” in November to whet the palate for the college football weekend ahead.

In particular, Tuesday night’s Toledo-Bowling Green tilt brought the heat.

The MAC West-leading Rockets (10–1, 7–0) entered the game as a double-digit favorite over the Falcons (6–5, 4–3), but fell behind 28–10 at halftime.

But Toledo’s offense wouldn’t go quietly. The Rockets made halftime adjustments on both sides of the football to put themselves in position to complete the unlikely comeback.

The Toledo Rockets, led by coach Jason Candle, secured their 10th victory of the year with a wild comeback vs. Bowling Green.

Faced with fourth-and-2 from its own 41 yard line with 1:45 to play, Toledo needed a first down to keep the game alive. Trailing 31–25, Rockets quarterback Dequan Finn completed a pass out to the flat to running back Jacquez Stuart, who took the pass up the right sideline untouched for a 59-yard touchdown to tie the game.

After an extra point put the Rockets up 32–31, Toledo’s defense forced a Bowling Green turnover on downs to complete the comeback.

The result? Pandemonium, and a field storm by visiting Toledo fans who were happy to celebrate a comeback victory over a bitter conference rival on their own turf.

Toledo has won the MAC West, and will play in the conference title game on Dec. 2. Their opponent has yet to be determined, but Miami (Ohio) sits atop the MAC East ahead of its matchup with Buffalo on Wednesday night.
