Tokyo World after parties cancelled due to First Bus staff shortages

Tokyo World has been forced to cancel its Bristol after parties just weeks ahead of the highly anticipated festival. The two-day event held at Eastville Park was due to carry on until the early hours of the morning with after parties on Saturday and Sunday night.

However, these two events, both due to be held at Motion, have now been cancelled due to First Bus staff shortages. Tokyo World claims that it would be mission impossible to get attendees to the after-party from the festival without a bus service.

Tickets for these two events have now been removed from their official website. People who have already purchased a ticket will be contacted by ticket sellers to refund the tickets within 21 days.

The decision not to provide shuttle buses for Tokyo World follows in the footsteps of Bristol Balloon Fiesta. Organisers of the major event in Bristol were unable to run a shuttle bus earlier this month due to a shortage of bus drivers.

A statement released by Tokyo World on their website said: "Traditionally the official after parties have been held in partnership with Motion nightclub, Bristol.

"We have been notified by the official travel partner, First Bus group, that due to staff shortages they are unable to ferry festival goers to motion nightclub this year. Without this service, it is mission impossible to get there.

"If you have purchased a ticket in advance for either after party, the ticketsellers will be emailing you to confirm this and refund your ticket within 21 working days."

A spokesperson for First West of England said: “Unfortunately, this is down to the ongoing driver shortages we are experiencing not just in the West of England but nationally. With current driver numbers still low, we simply cannot divert resources from our regular services in the West of England to run shuttle buses to Toyoko World festival and the associated after parties.

“We have a duty to our regular passengers to focus all available resources on our core services even though we would of course have loved to support this fantastic event.”
