A man who abducted and murdered a three-year-old girl 34 years ago has applied for parole in Queensland.
John William Bennett was sentenced to life imprisonment in June 1990 for the murder of Kelly Anne Jones days before her fourth birthday.
The toddler had been visiting her aunt in Toowoomba for the Carnival of Flowers when Bennet took her from the home.
Kelly Anne was last seen at 8.30am on September 24, 1989, in the back seat of Bennett's car near a Hampton shop.
Bennett later confessed to killing and disposing of the toddler's remains at a rubbish dump.
"I killed her. I killed her. She wouldn't let up. She annoyed me so I killed her," he said in his confession to police, his trial heard.
Hundreds of volunteers scouted a rubbish dump north of Toowoomba, but her body was never found.
After 32 years behind bars, Bennett - classified as a no body, no parole prisoner - has applied for release on parole.
Parole Board Queensland will hear the application on Friday.
Hundreds of people have signed a change.org petition protesting against his application for release.
"John Bennet has applied for parole, help us sign this to keep him in jail where he can rot," the petition states.
The application will be heard in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday.
