Todd Cantwell insists it’s message received after being clued in about Rangers’ cup demands.
The new signing from Norwich is settling in nicely at Ibrox after his January switch and insists he’s well aware of the expectations to deliver silverware. Ahead of the Scottish Cup last-16 clash with Partick Thistle, the Ibrox playmaker said: “This cup is massive. Every competition you’re involved in is equally as important when you’re at Rangers. That’s certainly the message I’ve received. It’s going to be a tough game. It’s the same whatever division you’re playing in.
“A team coming from a lower league is going to be up for it. It’s the game of their lives, almost, and they’re going to give absolutely everything. We have got to be ready for that in this game. But the one I really haven’t questioned since I came here is the drive. It’s really quite apparent from being in the changing room that the winning mentality is there. It’s brilliant because you don’t need to talk and try to get it out of each other, it’s already there.”
Cantwell starred alongside Kenny McLean and Grant Hanley at Carrow Road and revealed how his move north came with the Scotland pair’s blessing. He said: “They were particularly excited when they heard there was a possibility of me coming to Rangers.
"It was either they wanted me out of the changing room or they were happy to have me at Rangers. They are great guys. I realised how much they loved Rangers when I was linked to come here.
“They both just told me to be me. They said they’d fall in love with me if I could do that. They said if I gave 100 per cent and played the way I can when I’m at my happiest then it wouldn’t be a problem. That has been the message from everyone.”
