Norwich City boss David Wagner has paved the way for Todd Cantwell to move to Rangers after admitting the midfielder is not part of his plans and that the 24-year-old is talking to other clubs.
Michael Beale spoke of his admiration for the former England Under-21 man with Cantwell one of his top targets as he looks to complete his first signing as Rangers boss. And it’s now clear that Cantwell doesn’t have a future at Carrow Road, where he came through the youth ranks and made his top team debut six years ago.
Norwich City travel to Preston North End on Saturday and Wagner was quizzed on Cantwell ahead of the trip to Lancashire. And the German said: “It’s no secret. He isn’t part of the plans moving forwards. He is speaking to clubs. It would not be right at this point to be involved.”
Cantwell was also left of Wagner’s first squad last week for the FA Cup defeat to Blackburn Rovers and the player has been linked with Blackburn Rovers but Beale will be hoping to lure him north of the border.
