Todd Cantwell branded Rangers 'maverick' as former coach admits career 'stagnated' due to key factor

Todd Cantwell is a 'maverick' and has some amount of freedom playing for Rangers.

That is the view of the ex-Norwich City midfielder's former coach Jimmy Unwin, who nurtured the Englishman through his youth career at Carrow Road. Cantwell's boyhood club signed him first in 2008 as a youth player before he eventually made over 120 appearances for the Canaries. The 25-year-old had a stellar season in the English Premier League in the 2019/20 campaign but seemed to fall on hard times following that spell.

In came Michael Beale and Rangers to offer the attacking player a career lifeline and he has made an impression on Ibrox fans already. Cantwell opened his account with a goal against Motherwell and his former mentor believes the position he takes up in the Rangers team gives him unlimited freedom.
