Todd Boehly told why Wilfried Zaha is suited to Chelsea amid Anthony Gordon transfer talks

Todd Boehly has been told that Wilfried Zaha is a 'special' talent as Chelsea receive their latest response to their new Anthony Gordon bid as Everton could force a transfer re-think on the Blues' behalf.

The Blues are in the process of trying to sign new attackers before the September deadline with a new out-and-out striker and a fresh winger on the agenda for Boehly as Callum Hudson-Odoi's and Hakim Ziyech's expected departures leave room for new arrivals. Raheem Sterling has been signed already and has settled in well during his primitive days as a Chelsea player but as demonstrated in both the Everton and Tottenham results, more of a lethal side is needed in front of goals if the current World Champions are to collect three points on the regular during the 2022/23 Premier League season.

Therefore, it's no wonder that Barcelona's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has scored 70 plus goals under manager Thomas Tuchel during their Borussia Dortmund days together, is being heavily linked to making an early return to England after his fallout with Mikel Arteta and Arsenal has been well documented during the new All or Nothing season on Amazon Prime. football.london understands that the Blues remain locked in talks for the Barca star who is happy to stay where he is if the Blaugrana's asking price of around £21million is not met. Although, it is said that Aubameyang will listen and consider Chelsea's offer as a reunion with Tuchel and a guarantee of starting many games appeals to him greatly. Guarantees he won't have in Spain during 2022/23 due to the Robert Lewandowski acquisition.

Asides from Aubameyang though, and it seems as though the Gordon interest is genuine with the latest on the deal being that the Toffees have rejected Chelsea's latest £45m offer and are waiting to see if they go any higher as £50m is expected to be a price that will receive a 'green light'.

Should Chelsea spend that much money on a young talent or could they spend less on someone who is a little older but more proven?

Tentative links had initially surfaced from talkSPORT linking the Ivorian, who has less than a year on his current deal, to making the switch across London to join the Blues but nothing has progressed as of yet.

This transfer operation has been described by Chelsea sources as 'possible' but it is clear that the Gordon interest would have to be dropped completely before a player plus cash swap deal could be worked on between the two London clubs. Palace are interested in Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, so there could be some scope for negotiations here.

And alongside Jamie Carragher, a former Premier League star who has played alongside Zaha in the past has urged Boehly to give this 'special' player another chance at the top level in the Champions League.

After the Eagles' number 11 netted on the counter-attack at Anfield on Monday Night Football, Yannick Bolasie tweeted: 'Zaha is one of the big boys in the prem…don’t let anyone tell you any different, the quality & fight he brings for Palace is something special, if I’m going to war I’m taking him with me.'

A big vote of confidence from his former teammate.
