Todd Boehly is edging closer to the appointment of a sporting director at Chelsea. However, the American billionaire must overcome several challenges first, with Michael Edwards and Luis Campos both said to be on the Blues' shortlist.
According to The Times, Boehly has held talks with the Portuguese transfer guru. It's said that Campos is currently working as an advisor for both Paris Saint-Germain and Celta Vigo; essentially a freelance sporting director for either side.
However, the report adds that there is a clause in Campos' contract at Les Parc des Princes which prevents him from working 'in parallel' with another 'big club'. But, as aforementioned, by working as a freelance, a move to west London is not off the cards.

Ben Jacobs, journalist at CBS Sports, claims that, in order for Campos to exclusively work with Chelsea, he must pay PSG the remainder of his contract. The report adds that the French giants are 'quite surprised' at the Blues' interest in their chief.
With Edwards also subject to notable interest from the west Londoners, the two could coexist should Campos be employed at Stamford Bridge as an advisor. According to The Athletic, former Liverpool chief Michael Edwards was a leading target for Chelsea this summer.
Edwards was responsible for the signings of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane at Liverpool. He has built himself a reputation for his impressive success rate with transfers that have gone on to warrant - and exceed - the initial fee paid.
But, to Boehly's despair, it's said that Edwards turned down the opportunity, with the intention of taking a break from the sport. The Blues are believed to still hold an interest as they look to finally fill the position left by Michael Emenalo in 2017.
In the meantime, Boehly is Chelsea's interim sporting director. The club welcomed eight new players - one of whom has returned to their former club on loan and another who's arrived on loan - to the club this summer, costing in the region of £270million.
The aforementioned fee was spent on signing Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella, Wesley Fofana, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Carney Chukwuemeka, Gabriel Slonina and Denis Zakaria (loan fee).
