Chelsea's search for another new centre-back is no secret. The club brought in Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana in the summer, but after losing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, whilst also considering the ages of both Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta, the Blues need to bring in another defender in the near future.
According to the latest reports from France, they would have liked that man to be Benoit Badiashile. The 21-year-old AS Monaco star is already part of Didier Deschamps' plans and recently started the UEFA Nations League games against Austria and Denmark respectively.
Now, as per L'Equipe, as cited by Sport Witness, Chelsea have 'positioned themselves' among the frontrunners looking to sign him in 'recent weeks', but Monaco are currently holding them off. Badiashile himself has since admitted he remains humble and isn't desperate to leave the Ligue 1 outfit.

“Being humble and respectful does not mean not being ambitious. I know how to be patient. I’m at a big club, I’m playing and I don’t want to go any faster. If things have to be done, they will be done, like for the World Cup,” Badiashile said, as cited by Sport Witness.
“You shouldn’t put pressure on yourself with a departure. We were talking about personality in a locker room, if I had left earlier, would I have worked as well as that in recent months?”
The deal is obviously going to be complicated, but it seems like one to keep an eye on in the future.
