Chelsea have been warned against letting Mason Mount leave the club in the transfer window this summer by former player Emmanuel Petit. The Blues midfielder has been linked with a move to both Liverpool and Manchester United as uncertainty surrounds his future.
The 24-year-old has just over one-year remaining on his contract, but as talks over an extended stay have stalled, a potential sale could be on the cards. Mount has struggled for form this season too, though it has come at a time when the whole club have suffered on the pitch.
"He has reacted really well, as I would expect," Graham Potter said on the midfielder earlier this month. "He is a fantastic lad, he is great in the dressing room. He wants to support the team and help his teammates, he is ready to play. You saw that with how he came on against West Ham and Dortmund and had an impact. No problems with Mason."

While uncertainty remains over Mount's long-term stay at the club, they have been warned by Petit that an exit to a rival would be a bad move. He told Premier League odds: "Chelsea should try their best to keep Mount. I know he’s been linked with some big clubs, but taking away this season, he has been remarkable and he’s grown up with the club.
"He was developing into a brilliant midfield player, with goals and assists, and I think this year has been a transition year for Chelsea – so don’t put everything in a rubbish bin. He’s one of the last English players in the dressing room, too, which is very important for the fans.
"Chelsea should not make a stupid decision to sell Mount, he should stay at Chelsea."
With some time before the summer transfer window, there may be hopes that there is a middle ground for the two parties for an agreement, but there may be questions over playing time and wages that will have to be settled by then as Todd Boehly looks to continue his project.
