Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly could look to invest further into the playing squad this summer as the transfer window is on the horizon once again. The new regime have already added over half a billion pounds worth of talent in the past two markets, underlying their commitment to the philosophy of improving the side.
One of those additions in January was the late signing of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica, who has impressed at just 21 years old. The World Cup winner joined for a British record transfer fee of £106million on deadline day as the Blues needed to improve their midfield ranks.
Boehly and Behdad Eghbali told the Chelsea website on the addition: "In Enzo we are signing a World Cup-winner and one of the brightest talents in global football. We are excited to add him to Graham’s [Potter] squad and we are sure he will form an important part of our team going forward. Enzo has demonstrated his ability at the very highest levels so we’re looking forward to seeing what he will do in Chelsea blue!"

The youngster has settled into his new club well so far, with the club now having the option to build the rest of the squad around him. One decision that may be made going into the summer could surround a midfield partner that could be the dream option for Boehly and the recruitment team.
Sport reports that Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong is of interest to the Blues to fill that role after being able to leave the club one-year ago, with Manchester United also interested. However, things may have changed as the report adds that Barca are keen on keeping the Dutchman for the foreseeable future.
It remains to be seen whether their economic situation could still tempt a switch, but Boehly may have to switch targets ahead of the summer window.
