Todd Boehly could save £77m on Jude Bellingham Chelsea transfer with Manchester City example

Todd Boehly could prove his critics wrong if he was to win the transfer battle for young England star Jude Bellingham.

It's safe to say that the LA Dodgers co-owner has had his doubters since being part of the American consortium that purchased the club back at the end of May for £4.25billion.

Whether it's his actions and credentials as an interim sporting director or his outlandish ideas on hosting an all-star game between north and south, Boehly has certainly made his presence well known within English football and he's only been in situ for a couple of months.

With a £270m transfer spend in his first summer, Boehly and Clearlake Capital are prepared to back the club financially, whether that be in the form of transfers or internal investments, with improvements made that will benefit the Women's and Academy sides.

One former academy ace at Birmingham City would be a welcomed addition to the ranks in West London and would certainly go a long way in helping Boehly win over the likes of Jamie Carragher, Gary Neville and others.

Jude Bellingham, 19, is expected to be the next big name departure from Borussia Dortmund in the 2023 summer transfer window. Manchester City, Liverpool and others in European football, including Real Madrid, are hoping to prise the midfielder away from Signal Iduna Park.

It is understood that the Citizens have a good relationship with Dortmund following the Erling Haaland, Ilkay Gundogan and most recently Manuel Akanji transfers and insiders within the club, according to talkSPORT, believe the strong relations could lead to an £83million price being agreed.

This would present a huge bargain, with the CIES Football Observatory valuing Bellingham at a whopping £160m. Can Chelsea potentially strike a deal which would save around £77m extra for the overall transfer kitty?

Callum Hudson-Odoi or Christian Pulisic could be offered to Dortmund, which in addition to the money, could hand the Blues the initiative in this situation to strike a deal for the next best thing to come out of Germany.

Chelsea fans- would you be willing to sacrifice one of Callum Hudson-Odoi or Christian Pulisic if it would mean that Jude Bellingham was to sign? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below!
