Todd Boehly can get Chelsea transfer revenge on Barcelona with dream Enzo Fernandez partner

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly may be able to finally get some revenge on Barcelona for poaching transfer targets last summer by landing a La Masia wonderkid in the next few months. The fate of the Blues last year was entwined with that of the Blaugrana, who both needed a rebuild in the market.

The La Liga side signed former Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen on a free transfer after the Dane failed to agree a new contract early in the window. Then came battles between the two sides for Raphinha and Jules Kounde, which sparked plenty of outrage in west London as Barca won the tussle.

There had been a dragged on saga over a potential switch for Marcos Alonso as Xavi Hernandez's side continue to battle with scaling back their financial obligations, with a deal eventually passing for a free transfer. The last crossing in the market then came as the two clubs agreed another deal with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang moving to Stamford Bridge.

With plenty of fresh memories over the feud in the summer, Boehly could soon have his revenge over Barcelona if he takes advantage of a recent contract change. That's for youngster Gavi, who had signed a new contract in September, which has since been reverted to an academy deal by La Liga due to a long-standing legal issue over the registration.

It means that, due to his old contract, the 18-year-old could be available for free this summer as he has a release clause in the deal that would allow for it. It remains to be seen if the midfielder would be willing to make the switch to west London, though it would be a perfect fit for Boehly's model.

It would also bring in a perfect partner for Enzo Fernandez, who has impressed for the Blues since signing for a British record transfer fee of £106million in January from Benfica. Gavi's mobility and technical ability on the ball could make for a dream partnership between the two as well as a potential bargain of the century.
