Todd Boehly and Chelsea given Lionel Messi transfer update as PSG star makes decision on future

Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi's contract is set to expire in 2023 and it seems as though his next club has already been decided which would see him play his football outside of Europe for the first time in over 20 years.

Chelsea had been linked with the Argentinian star as a potential free agent scoop once his two-year deal signed at French giants PSG expires in the summer, but his future now could be in America.

The Times are reporting that Inter Miami - who are owned by David Beckham - are close to signing Messi in a deal that would make him the highest-paid player in the history of the MLS.

Messi is currently competing at the World Cup with Argentina and following his nation's shock defeat to Saudi Arabia, delivered a vintage performance against Mexico on Saturday which included a delightful goal from the edge of the box and an assist in the 2-0 win.

The 35-year-old is certainly still capable of playing at the highest level with 14 goals and 17 assists in all competitions this season, although he could be part of an exciting Inter Miami project which may see him link up with former Barcelona team-mates Luis Suarez and Cesc Fabregas who have also been linked with the American outfit.
