Former Cardiff boss sacked by Glasgow after hammering
Ex-Cardiff head coach Danny Wilson has been sacked as Glasgow Warriors in the wake of the club's 76-14 URC quarter-final defeat by Leinster.
The hammering capped a meek end to the URC season for Warriors, who lost six of their final eight matches. In the wake of Wilson's departure, Glasgow managing director Al Kellock said their form "has not been acceptable".
Wilson, who led Cardiff to a Challenge Cup victory in 2018, leaves Glasgow after just two years in charge of the side. He took over from Dave Rennie, having previously worked as Scotland's forwards coach after his time at the Arms Park.

"We are a proud organisation and want to be competitive week in, week out, and we felt therefore a change of head coach was the right step to take," Kellock added.
"It is never pleasant to have to make changes to our team, but we needed to act. I've enjoyed working closely with Danny and know he has given a huge amount to Glasgow over the past two seasons and for that I'd like to thank him and wish him well."
Wilson led the Warriors to fourth in a disrupted first season, before starting strongly this year. However, a drop in form saw them win just twice on the road all season - with the thrashing to Leinster the final straw.
"I am proud that we finished the season in the top eight and qualified for a quarter-final, and like everyone I am extremely disappointed with the result at the weekend," Wilson said.
"I'd like to thank the players and staff at Glasgow Warriors for all their hard work and commitment over the two seasons I was with the club."
England international heading to Japan
England No. 8 Nathan Hughes has revealed he's heading to Japan after finishing his spell with Bristol Bears.
The 22-cap international was expected to head to France with Clermont Auvergne after three years at Bristol, but has now revealed he'll be off to Japan instead. "I’m going to Japan," he revealed to PRTV after Bears' 42-19 defeat at Sale Sharks on the final day of the Gallagher Premiership campaign.
"(It is) closer to home, closer to the kids and I feel my time in the Premiership has come to an end. It’s been huge progress in my career, coming from New Zealand to where I am now. At 31, hopefully I can get a few games under my belt."
Waratahs consider handing lifeline to Latu
The Waratahs are reportedly set to throw Wallaby hooker Tolu Latu a lifeline after a season of drama both on and off the field.
The hooker recently left Stade Francais after a campaign that saw him receiver seven yellow cards, two red cards and an 11-week ban that he is currently still serving. He also came in for criticism from his club's owner, with Hans-Peter Wildsaying Latu had “spent more time off the field than on it”.
However, the Age report that his former club in Australia could offer him a route back, although any move would require the approval of both the Rugby Australia and NSW boards. It's expected that would be likely, with former Wales center and RA boss Andy Marinos hinting at a positive outcome.
“I just think if Tolu Latu wants to come back, that’s the beautiful thing about sport, it’s got a number of redemption stories in it,” Marinos said.
“He’s obviously had a difficult time overseas and he’s got quite a lengthy ban that he’s coming back with. Is he a talented player? Yes. Can he add value? Absolutely.
“Wherever he decides he’s going to come back and he decides he wants to play, we’ve got to work with them around that reintroduction of him into Australian rugby at a club level. We’ll see how he goes. I’m sure they’ll look at him if he’s putting his hand up.”
Ex-England coach starts new job in France
Former England defence coach Paul Gustard has arrived in Paris to start his job with Stade Francais ahead of next season.
The appointment of Gustard was confirmed on Monday, with his remit to be overlooking the defence of the Parisians. He previously took charge of Saracens' defence between 2008 and 2016 before joining Eddie Jones' coaching ticket for two years.
After that, he left to be the head of rugby at Harlequins. However, he left that role by mutual consent months before their Premiership triumph in 2021, going on to take on the role of assistant coach at Benetton in Italy.
