Today's Public Health Scotland Covid update for all 32 Scots councils as 5,118 new cases reported

A further 5,118 cases of coronavirus have been reported in Scotland including 248 in Ayrshire.

Data published by the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland show there are currently 884 patients with Covid in Scottish hospitals, which is down 18 from Friday.

There are currently 18 people being treated with the disease in ICUs across the nation.

No new deaths from the disease have been recorded within the last 24 hours meaning the nation's death toll remains at 10,512.

However, 13,075 deaths had been registered up to Sunday, February 6 where the disease was mentioned on the death certificate.

Meanwhile, there are 70 patients with Covid in Ayrshire hospitals — down eight from Friday — while fewer than five people are being treated with the illness in the region's intensive care units.

In terms of Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, Shetland Islands has the highest rate in the country – at 2,002.6 as of Sunday, February 13.

Orkney Islands has the second-highest infection rate at 1,174.1 while Dundee City is third with 1,102.7.

In terms of Ayrshire's three local authorities, East Ayrshire has the highest rate of 625; South Ayrshire's rate stands at 602.8 while North Ayrshire's is 554.2.

Of the 248 new cases reported in Ayrshire, 103 were in North Ayrshire, 78 were in East Ayrshire and 66 in South Ayrshire.

A total of 4,428,021 people have received one dose of a Covid vaccine; 4,143,511 are double jabbed and 3,352,239 people have received a third dose/booster.
