Today's Interview: Letcher County woman receives East Kentucky Leadership Award

Following the historic July flooding that hit eastern Kentucky, the Hemphill Community Center in Letcher County became a distribution site for supplies and a safe place for people who needed shelter.

Gwen Johnson has been the volunteer director of the center for 15 years and recently received a 2023 East Kentucky Leadership Award for individual work.

Johnson talked a little about the award. She also talked about how she and a very small staff rallied people to help each other through the devastation and emotional turmoil caused by last July's flash flooding.
