Chocolate fans nationwide have been shocked by the announcement that Toblerone is introducing a new limited-edition flavour.
The fan-favourite Swiss chocolate brand recently tempted their fans with a brand new golden Toblerone bar with a smooth caramel flavour.
But the chocolate bar is so exclusive that there will only be 5,000 made, The Daily Record reports.
Despite being excited over the new flavour, it looks like the brand really believe they are selling a bar of gold, as one 360g bar is priced at a whopping £17.
Considering one regular milk chocolate bar retails at around just £3.50, the new flavour is considerably pricier than usual.
Outrage over the rather expensive price-tag was sparked when an announcement of the limited-edition release was shared to the NewFoodsUK Facebook page, reports The Liverpool Echo.
The post read: "Limited Edition Golden Caramel Toblerone!
"When we saw these online at Toblerone we just had to get one of these limited edition bars!!
"OMG, we are so glad we did - the golden chocolate works so well with the honey & almond nougat!
"So happy with the personalised packaging too, will be keeping it for sure!"
The post has since quickly racked up 2.2k likes and a massive 2.8k comments from shoppers who were keen to try the new flavour, but slammed the price as a "joke."
One shopper said: "£17! I love a Toblerone but not for £17!" A second commented: "£17 a bar!! Should be made of gold!!"
A third commented: "17 quid? I know inflation has risen rapidly but that's a joke." A fourth shopper said: "Sounds nice but not at £17 a pop!"
Some weren't dissuaded by the price though, as many eager shoppers tagged their friends to show them the product.
One comment read: "Ohhh my goodness bet that's yummy."
Another shopper tagged their friend and said: "two fave things caramac & Toblerone!"
You can purchase the limited edition Toblerone here for £17 with the option to make it personalised.
