TK Maxx shoppers divided by quirky £109 shoes for people ‘who don’t have a garden’

For some, Spring is all about daffodils and tulips, and getting back in the garden. However, if you don't have a garden (and you don't fancy a trip to the park) just how do you feel the grass between your toes? Never fear, a TK Maxx shopper has found the answer, and the solution may just surprise you.

While shopping at the discount retailer, which has stores in Nottinghamshire and the city, including Chilwell, Netherfield, Giltbrook, Newark and Mansfield, they spotted the solution. A pair of summer sandals complete with faux grass and flowers.

Taking a picture of the find, the shopper posted a picture of the grassy footwear in a Facebook group. A reporter at Manchester Evening News spotted the post on Extreme Couponing and Bargains Group page, and noted that the shoes had been reduced in the sale. The post quickly racked up thousands of likes and hundreds of comments overnight. However, opinion on the novel footwear was divided with people struggled to work out if they were the best, or the worst thing ever.

According to the report, the poster shared a photo of the grassy sandals, complete with faux flowers and price point indication. They had been reduced from £760 to £109.

The find opened up a stream of puns and fellow bargain hunters had a field day in the comments section. One person wroted: “Brings a whole new meaning to ‘don’t let the grass grow under your feet’”. Another added: “What in the Alan Titchmarsh are those!?”

“What in the “off with their head” is going on here?” asked another, while a fourth joked: “Are they both the same colour or is the grass greener on the other side?”

The witty remarks continued as one social media user commented: “For those who don't have a garden? They can feel the grass beneath their feet? Just trying to work out why these are an actual thing.”

“I’m not sure I like them but I’m sure they will grow on me,” another added: “Bet you can’t wait to plant your feet in them.”

Despite being rather unusual, some shoppers have been surprised at how much they actually quite like them. One said: “Why do I feel like I need these?” as another said they’d ‘rather these over Crocs’. A third coined them ‘the best things I've ever seen’.

Some weren’t so keen though, with some even saying they made them feel a bit ill. One wrote: “The thought of the feeling of the fake grass on my feet makes me feel queasy.” Another added: “They’re making my feet itch just looking at them!”
