TJX Ireland Unlimited Company, which operates TK Maxx and Homesense stores in Ireland, has issued recall notices for four products sold at the stores over a number of health and safety fears.
The first product is a blue and beige Queenwest Trading Co. baby blanket with a warning on the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission website saying the risk associated with the product is that of "entrapment, strangulation and choking."
The risk is due to loose threads around the edge of the blanket. The batch numbers affected are 714010 and 714015.
The affected products were available for purchase during May and June 2022.
There are approximately 1,000 affected products in the Republic of Ireland and United Kingdom. Given the availability of this product, it may have been sold to customers in the Republic of Ireland.
The stores have also recalled an Elgetec Electric Shiatsu cervical, back and neck massager.
The risk associated with the product is that of electric shock or fire, according to the CCPC. The plug and cord do not meet required safety standards.
The batch number is 644637.
The affected product was available for purchase from September 2020 to May 2022.
"There are approximately 1920 affected products in the Republic of Ireland and United Kingdom. Given the availability of this product, it may have been sold to customers in the Republic of Ireland," a CCPC statement read.
The Something Cosmetics and Elgetec Ultrapower Ionic Hair Dryer / Elgetec Beauty Ultrapower Ionic Hair Dryer have also been recalled.
The risk associated with these products is that of electric shock or fire. The plug and cord do not meet required safety standards, the CCPC has said.
The brands are Something Cosmetics and Elgetec. The model is Something Cosmetics Ultrapower Ionic Hair Dryer / Elgetec Beauty Ultrapower Ionic Hair Dryer The batch number is 886714.
The affected products were available for purchase from January 2022 to July 2022. There are approximately 376 affected products in Europe and United Kingdom. Given the availability of this product, it may have been sold to customers in the Republic of Ireland.
Finally, a set of Pink Sky The Glow Up “12ft Flexible LED Strip Lights” have been recalled by the stores.
The risk associated with the product is that of choking.
"This product may have a fault with the battery compartment on the remote control. The battery compartment may be opened too easily which could allow a child to access the battery," a CCPC notice reads.
The batch number is MA1063-12-MUA. The affected product was available for purchase from October 2021 until December 2021.
"There are approximately 500 affected products in the Republic of Ireland and United Kingdom. Given the availability of this product, it may have been sold to customers in the Republic of Ireland."
If you have purchased any of these products, the advice is to stop using the product immediately and return it to any TK Maxx or Homesense store for a full refund.
