Brazil manager Tite has left his post in charge of the Selecao.

The 61-year-old was appointed in 2016 but leaves following Brazil’s shock loss to Croatia in the World Cup quarter-finals on Friday, extending their wait for a world title to at least 24 years.

Tite won the Copa America in 2019 but was beaten in the 2021 final by rivals Argentina. Before this winter’s tournament in Qatar, the former Corinthians boss had confirmed he would step down upon the end of the Brazilian campaign.

Of the 81 games he oversaw, Tite won 61 of them but was knocked out of both World Cups he oversaw at the quarter-final stage.

"It is very difficult," said Tite after Brazil’s exit.

"The cycle ended and I said that one and a half years ago. I needed to have the full cycle and now I have the full cycle and have followed the moments."
