Titans vs. Browns: Staff predictions for Week 3 game

The Tennessee Titans will travel to Cleveland Browns Stadium on Sunday in the hopes of putting together their first winning streak since last November.

Since that winning streak, the Titans lost eight straight games, including Week 1 of this season. Thankfully, Tennessee got off the loser wagon in Week 2 with a 27-24 overtime victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Meanwhile, the Browns haven’t put together back-to-back wins since last December and also sport a 1-1 record after winning in Week 1 but losing in Week 2.

While sportsbooks see the Titans as the underdog in this game, the vast majority of NFL experts from different media outlets we rounded up are picking Tennessee to win the contest.

Now, it’s our turn.

Here are the picks and predictions from myself, Mike Moraitis, and Titans Wire lead contributor Shaun Calderon for what will happen during the Week 3 game between the Titans and Browns on Sunday afternoon in Ohio.

The Titans are trying to win two consecutive games for the first time since they beat the Denver Broncos and Green Packers within four days last November.

I think they’ll come out a motivated bunch, but the Browns are going to make this a gritty dogfight for four quarters. In the end, I see Tennessee barely squeaking by with a win.

Final score: Titans 19, Browns 17

Both defenses are going to make this game an ugly one for the offenses, with yards and points hard to come by. This is going to be one of those games that comes down to field position, and more importantly, who wins the turnover battle.

As far as the field position battle is concerned, the Titans have the edge there thanks to their unit of a punter, Ryan Stonehouse, who can flip the field at will.

The turnover battle is where the Titans have to worry, with Ryan Tannehill being susceptible to throwing games away. But Deshaun Watson has been a shell of himself since going to Cleveland, so quarterback concerns are real for both teams.

However, Tannehill rides the momentum he picked up last week en route to a good enough performance while Watson struggles just a bit more in his latest lackluster outing. The Folk Hero builds upon his Tennessee legend with another game-winner, moving the Titans to 2-1.

Final score: Titans 19, Browns 16
